Answers to common questions about yStream.
What do I need to start streaming?
You need an iPhone with iOS 16 or later and an RTMP or SRT endpoint to stream to. This can be a free Twitch or YouTube account, or your own media server (Nginx, Wowza, Ant Media, etc.).
Does yStream work with Twitch and YouTube?
Yes. Connect your Twitch or YouTube account in Settings → Connected Accounts. yStream will fetch your stream key (Twitch) or create a broadcast (YouTube) automatically. Twitch and YouTube integration requires a yStream Pro subscription.
Can I use a custom RTMP server?
Yes. Go to Settings → Saved Profiles → Add Profile and enter your RTMP server URL and stream key. Custom RTMP streaming is available on the free tier.
The stream won't connect. What should I check?
Make sure your server URL and stream key are correct. Check that your server is running and reachable. For RTMP, the URL format is typically rtmp://your-server/live with the stream key entered separately.
The stream quality is poor or dropping frames.
Try lowering the bitrate or resolution in Settings → Streaming. A lower bitrate is better on weak connections. For SRT streaming, dropped frames are shown in the stats overlay (tap the LIVE badge to toggle).
Can I flip the camera or mute while live?
Yes — use the controls on the main camera screen. Flipping the camera or muting audio does not interrupt the stream.
What does yStream Pro include?
Pro removes the watermark from your stream, unlocks Twitch and YouTube Live integration, and enables the real-time stream stats overlay.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the Settings app → Apple ID → Subscriptions → yStream, then tap Cancel Subscription. You can also manage subscriptions directly in the App Store.
I already purchased Pro — how do I restore it?
Go to Settings (gear icon) → Account → Restore Purchases. Your subscription will be re-activated using your Apple ID.
Does yStream record or store my stream?
No. Your camera and microphone data is sent directly to your chosen streaming destination. We never receive or store your video or audio.
